Awesome.
It has recently occurred to me that I am a little over a year away from graduating college. And seven months away from being 22. To be honest, if anyone ever told me that I would even finish college at a school I adored while doing everything that I have ever wanted, I would have never believed them.
Every year that I am here, I get further and further from the kid who believed that life had somehow short-changed her. I’m trying to get past petty grudges and I’m trying not to solve my problems by strapping on my armor and preparing for war.
I know I’ll always be tough and I’ll always be stubborn. Being combative is in my blood. I’ll never stop being secretive. But at least I can try to learn the pride in being flawed and the grace in needing someone else.
I just watched Martyrs, the new horror film from Pascal Laugier (who will be directing the remake of Hellraiser). I have been waiting a very long time to see this and I can safely say that Martyrs is one of the most brutal, disturbing, and horrifying movies I have ever seen. When I say disturbing, I mean in the most classic of ways. The ending will probably haunt me for days. Laugier doesn’t skimp on the gore and the violence…even though I kept thinking to myself that he just had to stop, there was no way he could go any further. Wrong.
If you can get your hands on a copy, see it. If you can’t, wait until the end of April when it comes out on DVD. I will definitely be buying the movie if only to support the future of horror films.

Sometimes I forget I live in one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the country. It’s such a shame I don’t explore anymore. Someday I’ll wish that I had gotten lost more, walked down unknown streets, and taken trains to far places.
